apple trees
Welcome to Apple Trees, this site is fanatical about anything to do with apples and apple trees. Our fanaticism started when we planted our dwarf apple tree in our small back garden. Gradually, this became an obsession and to cut a long story short, we bought some land and started our own orchard.

To say our apple trees are our passion would be an understatement. We will be gradually adding lots of photos and apple trees articles, including growing apple tree guides, guide on dwarf apples trees, apple recipes, apple tree growing and much more!

You will be able to buy apple trees here also! Apple trees for sale around the UK will be listed, as will review guides and how to buy apple trees.

This tree produced fruit last year but was not pruned. If pruning is required, please give info on how to do so.

Sometimes trees skip of year of producing fruit.
It could have been too cold or wet this year as well.
    I wouldn’t worry about it.
As for pruning… think of when the first apple tree appeared. It probably didn’t get pruned and yet there are millions of apple trees today.

fruit trees have to be pruned correctly or the following year they will not bear fruit.your tree will probably have lots of long thin branches from the last prune ,which was probably done wrongly. cut all these very thin branches off. the shape of your tree after pruning should be cup shape inside .the outer branches should be cut back to the old wood from last year .don’t worry if you think you are doing a bad job the tree will love you for fixing a bad problem .it will still grow again and next year should have a better crop of apples

Pruning just helps the tree and helps keep fruit accessable. The tree should flower even if you do nothing. If it budded and you had a hard frost, it may have killed the buds.

Did you feed it? Pruning is good, just cut back on the limbs and any suckers you see. Some trees take a rest every so many years and don’t produce fruit.

Does anyone have history with this? I just read it is the hardest herb to grow. I got some free seeds so I am trying it but it hasn't germinated yet. MJ
