    Apples and pears produce their seeds inside fleshy fruits that then get eaten be an animal ( or human ). The fruit is digested, but the seeds pass through the digestive tract, and are dropped in other locations.
    Blueberry fruits are not fleshy but juicy, but the way of dispersal is similar ( by various birds and mammals ).http://www.rook.org/earl/bwca/nature/shr…
    This way of seed dispersal guaranties long distances from motherplants.

    All these seeds are protected by a an indigestible and rather strong seed coat ( those of apples and pears a bit softer than blueberry seeds )
