Hello
I live In the Bay Area, California. We get plenty of sun now. I would like to grow some tomatoes and other vestables such as peppers and cucumbers and so on.
How do i get started? I have picked a spot for the garden with the most sun, however, the dirt is not very good there, it’s very dry. How much compost should i mix in and is it too late for me to grow a vestable garden??

Extra info: No, these are not planted trees…I am talking about driving along a country road, out in the boonies, and its always the same. Wild cedar trees line the fence line.
I’m baffled by this…particulary in Georgia, where I am from. Why do small cedar trees seem to grow along the fence lines beside the road. Is it due to the fence posts (which are made of cedar) somehow being responisble, or is it due to seeds being caught by the fence when they are blown in the wind?

There is a tree very common in Kerala, a southern state in India, which grows tall like 30-40 feets and 50″ – 100″ in width.
The fruit is just the size of an apple or twice it’s size.
The fruit has internal structure of flesh and seed exactly similar to a jack fruit. The fruits outer shell even has thorns same as Jack fruit. Can anyone tell me the English name of this tree and fruit ? Here, even in English official documents kept by government, the name used is the Native language malayalam name – “Aanjili”
It is not Bread fruit I am taking about… Bread fruit is used as rather a vegetable for cooking. But this fruit is sweet and becomes ripe and is delicious to eat when ripen.
Artocarpus hirsute seems to be it’s botanical name. And it’s timber is good for making furnitures.
