Why is applesauce good for diarrhea, even though apples and apple juice are laxatives?

When I had diarrhea recently, the nurse told me that applesauce was helpful, but fruits (except banana) and fruit juices were to be avoided because of the laxative effect. And I know independently that apples and apple juice are both laxatives. What happens to make apple sauce not a laxative? It’s just apple bits floating in apple sauce.

I was wondering if it was possible to be allergic to apples but not applesauce because if I eat even a little bit of an apple I have what seems like an allergic reaction. (symptoms of an allergic reaction) I have had this problem since I was young but I’ve never had any problem with applesauce. Is it possible or is there another explanation?

Does anyone else have peculiar dogs like mine? They will happily eat applesauce,but give them an apple slice and they just look at it.They will also eat cooked veggies,but never raw. Most of the other dogs I have owned loved apples,and I had rough collie that would eat almost any vegetables or fruits and she lived to be 17 years old.

I am about to make 9 quarts of applesauce. Its step one of my apple butter canning project.
I usually use store bought applesauce but want to do it all homemade this year.
So about how many apple or how many lbs of apples will make up 9 quarts?
Also should I use granny smith, mcintosh, 1/2 and 1/2, or use some other type of apple?

I’m making a pork roast for dinner, and I’d like to do a homemade applesauce with it. I made some really great applesauce with red rome apples last fall, but I can’t seem to find any of those this time of year. Any suggestions for a good type of apple to use? I don’t put sugar in it, so I find granny smiths are a little tart. I like eating fuji apples, but I know they aren’t great for cooking. Any advice?
