I moved into a house with a small apple tree. The apples seem to fall on the ground before turning red. Someone told me to pick them before they drop while they are green and keep them in the house and they will turn red eventually. Is this true. Someone also told me I can eat them while they are still green is this true?

First, determine what type of apples you have (i.e. some varieties are green when ripe). Since it’s July & most apples don’t ripen ’til Sept or Oct, wait.
APPLE TREESYou can try picking them green & letting them ripen in the house but you’ll have a poor tasting fruit. Sure, you can eat the now if you don’t mind getting sick!
A previous responder was likely on target with the tree dropping fruit as a natural thinning process. Next year, do this yourself. Fruit & nut trees typically go thru cycles; one year an over abundance, the next, limited production.

It really all depends! Some fruits if you keeps them in a dark and cool place will ripen quicker sometimes. But it would be better to wait until you see that it is starting to turn to its ripend color before picking. If you intened to eat green apples be careful, eating some underipe fruits like olive can get you sick.

Some apples fall off the tree before maturity, the tree sheds some to keep the weight from breaking the limbs. If they are grown apples they can be eaten green in moderation, even off the ground, the ones on the tree will stay there till they get ripe, then they are better.

I tried that once. First off it tastes gross. It’s too tart and sour and it kind of gives your tongue a numb feeling after a while. second of all I got sick later on that day and had a horrible stomachache for about 3 hours. third of all my friend tried it and fainted. i think they need to be ripe first. (I think my friend was just faking the whole fainted thing though.) you should wait.
