I really want to grow fruit trees such as apple, pear, peach, plum etc…. However I know that if you grow them from seeds they take many years and may not even produce edible fruit.
So I was thinking that I should try and root stock them like they come when you buy them, just that it would be cheaper and better fun if I did it myslef. Is it possible to do or am I just kidding myself?
Thanks for any help

your best bet is to root from new growth off a tree you want. The down side is the root system of most commercially grown fruit trees are probably grafted from a nut tree. The natural root system of a fruit tree is not aggressive enough to sustain it in severe conditions hence the graft.
