While cleaning out the dark recesses of my pantry, I have discovered an opened bottle of apple cider vinegar. Heaven knows how old it is, but since vinegar is basically wine that has already turned (and wine is fermented juice), can it get any worse? Is it still safe to use? I know it won’t kill me to buy a new bottle (and I probably will anyway) but I am curious. Thanks!

It gets a sediment in the bottom when it’s old, and the flavor gets very strong and bitter over time, due to evaporation. I’d suggest you throw it away.
