I was thinking of cutting the apples before dipping them into caramel. I wanted to make them more like finger foods instead of whole apples since I think they will be easier to eat at a party. Do you think it will work? Will the apple go bad? Please help, I dont want to screw it up. Thanks!

I’m sure it will. I’d give it a test try before you go through preparing all of them, first though.
APPLE TREESMake sure you coat your cut apple slices in diluted lemon juice and let it dry, before coating them in caramel. The lemon juice is acidic which helps prevent the oxidation of air with the apple. The oxidation is what causes that brown color and grainy/mushy texture, if you can prevent that then you should be good to go!
I’ve never really thought about cutting up apples for caramel apples, it’s really a very good idea! Good luck! I hope they end up being awesomely delicious!

I think that if you slice your apples, the caramel may not stick to the slices since they are wet. Also, they may start to brown unless you put lemon juice on them, which would take you back to the same wet apple slice problem.
APPLE TREESI think it works best to dip your whole apples first in some boiling water, and then wipe off the wax they are treated with before dipping in caramel.
An even better idea is to buy those pre-sliced apples they sell in the produce section (they come in a bag) since they don’t turn brown, and make a nice caramel dip for them. Lay them out on a platter with the dip in the center.

cut & core the apples then immediately drop them into some cold water with lemon in it – that will keep the apples from turning brown. bon appetite
