Unless the tree is in blossom there is nothing the ants want or need from it. So you most likely need to get rid of the aphids that the ants are “farming”. Aphids are tiny sucking insects that secrete what is called honeydew and that is what the ants are after. Aphids can do some damage to a young tree by sucking all the juices out of the leaves, but they can be controlled with insecticides, natural or chemical. When the aphids are gone the ants will leave.
