apple trees
Welcome to Apple Trees, this site is fanatical about anything to do with apples and apple trees. Our fanaticism started when we planted our dwarf apple tree in our small back garden. Gradually, this became an obsession and to cut a long story short, we bought some land and started our own orchard.

To say our apple trees are our passion would be an understatement. We will be gradually adding lots of photos and apple trees articles, including growing apple tree guides, guide on dwarf apples trees, apple recipes, apple tree growing and much more!

You will be able to buy apple trees here also! Apple trees for sale around the UK will be listed, as will review guides and how to buy apple trees.

    Apple Cinnamon Pie
1 1/2 lb red delicious apples — peeled, cored, cut in 1/4 inch slices (about 4 1/2 cups)
1 1/2 lb Golden delicious apples — peeled, cored, cut in 1/4 inch slices (about 4 1/2 cups)
    1/4 cup sugar — plus 1 tablespoon
    1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    3 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    1 tbsp cider vinegar
    1/2 tsp salt
1 pie crust — double crust
    1/4 cup honey
    1 tbsp milk
Position rack in bottom third of oven and preheat oven to 400° F. Combine sliced apples, 1/4 cup sugar, flour, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, vinegar and salt in large bowl; toss to blend.
Roll out 1 dough disk on lightly floured surface to 13-inch round. Transfer to 9-inch-diameter deep-dish glass pie dish. Trim overhang to 1/2 inch. Brush edge of crust lightly with water. Transfer apple mixture to crust, mounding in center and pressing lightly to compact. Drizzle with honey. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Roll out second dough disk to 13-inch round. Place atop apples. Trim dough overhang to 1 inch. Fold top crust edge under bottom crust edge, pressing to seal. Crimp edge decoratively. Cut several slits in crust to allow steam to escape.
Place apple pie on baking sheet. Bake 45 minutes.
Combine remaining 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon in small bowl. Brush top crust of pie with milk. Sprinkle with sugar mixture. Bake until crust is golden brown, apples are tender and juices bubble thickly, covering crust edges with foil if browning too quickly, about 20 minutes. Transfer pie to rack and cool.
Cut pie into wedges and serve with vanilla ice cream.

This recipe works best with a tart apple. Cut, and peel the apples. In a large non-stick frying pan, add a little butter and add the apples. On top of the apples put a handful of brown sugar, some nutmeg and some cinnamon. You can also add a bit of pancake syrup to this. Cover and let them cook down to almost mush. Remove the cover and let cook to thicken a bit….this is the best stuff spread on top of a hot homemade biscuit. Or try it on vanilla ice cream, or as a topper on pancakes and waffles. Keeps in the fridge well. Just zap it in the microwave when you want to use it.
